Heart & Hands Pediatric Clinic

Bringing Healthcare to You

Improving Healthcare Accessibility

The Heart & Hands Pediatric Clinic is a registered non-profit organization focused on delivering health care to underserved children, through a school-based health centre. The program was founded in 2019 and establishes a health clinic within a community’s school, to provide immediate and preventative care to children and their families, with on-site doctors and allied health professionals.

The Lester B. Pearson School Board and Montreal Children’s Hospital have come together to create a collaborative clinic that surrounds a child , in an environment they trust. Through a team-based approach, Heart & Hands draws on school staff, medical professionals and families to understand each child’s unique circumstances and provide holistic care solutions.

Supporting the Community

Built by the community, for the community. Through the collaboration and leadership of the education and health sectors, as well as local organizations, we have established our first pediatric-based clinic serving the Verdun community. Located in Verdun Elementary, the clinic serves the broader community, with a focus on the the students and families of Verdun Elementary and Riverside Elementary.

Community Centered Learning

for

Resident Physicians

Heart & Hands bridges the gap from the Resident Physician’s classroom and the community. Acting as an extension of their medical program, Resident Physicians are supervised by Pediatricians associated with the Montreal Children’s Hospital, in an environment where they gain hands-on experience facing real medical and social issues. Resident Physicians care and monitor for a wide range of complex medical and psychosocial conditions, while learning how to address and interact with the social aspects of working within a community and its’ vulnerable children.
